Due to a sprained ankle and some broken ligaments, our trip to Everest Base Camp was cancelled. Instead we went to Sri Lanka. Ten days was wonderful. Filled with good food and a few reunions and lots of beautiful scenery. We stayed in beautiful, old hotels and had a very successful safari in Yala National Park. After 22 years it was good to return. Check out more photos on FaceBook if you can.

The Plantation.
Long weekend - four days off. Teaching is the perfect job.
Noi and I left on Wednesday after school and drove down to our coconut plantation in Chumphon. It's a bit of a long drive; nearly six hours. SEven hours if you drive at the speed limit. But that's just dumb. The distance has put us off going there for a long time. Also having The Black Pearl has taken up a bit of our holiday plans. It's easier to fly to Phuket but cheaper to drive to The Planation. Economy wins and we were so glad it did. We had the most perfect long weekend. It could only have been better if I was able-bodied, instead of limping. I had trouble walking the length of the beach.
But there was not a soul in sight to witness me hobbling down to the beach for broad daylight skinny dips. The beauty of a secluded, private beach, can't matched.
The weather was perfect. Each morning was consistently bright and sunny. Each afternoon the storms rolled in to cool down the day and make the evenings a little cool. Chilly enough to need blankets and a snuggle-up.
It was harvest day, so we were interrupted in our privacy while the coconut collector came with his monkeys, to harvest. But that was all over by Thursday afternoon. Three Truck-loads of coconuts!! I want to live here.
